tutoring
As well as performing, Emily is an experienced teacher, teaching both lever and pedal harp, piano and music theory to children and adults. Emily teaches privately at home and works for Gwent Music Support Services as a peripatetic harp teacher. Emily enjoys tutoring on the Gwent Youth and String Orchestra courses. In 2020, Emily enjoyed being the Deputy Harp Tutor for the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama's Junior Conservatoire every Saturday. This role involved working with the harp ensemble, coaching chamber classes, and teaching one-to-one music theory lessons. Emily is often asked to tutor on harp workshops and summer schools for different organisations including the Lady Llanover Society, the West of England Clarsach Society and Glasbury Arts. Emily and the Lady Llanover Society committee organise an annual 'Hands on Harp Day' in Llanfoist, Abergavenny which runs classes throughout the day led by professional harpists for all standards. Emily takes great pleasure in seeing her students progress with their musical talents and enjoys encouraging people to learn.

TESTIMONIALS
“Emily's students quickly gain the skills necessary to play to a high standard with a good technical knowledge of the instrument. I can fully recommend her as a harp tutor whatever the age of the student - I am 85 and after my harp lesson there is always a very keen ten year old who cannot wait for their lesson.”
Pamela, Harp Adult Learner
“ Emily has been teaching me harp for a year now. I find her happy, patient and reliable. Emily is very good at harp and theory. I like Emily being my harp teacher because she is kind, explains things clearly and makes you have the best possible time.”
Seren, Harp Student Aged 9
“Emily became my harp teacher in September 2018. Since being taught by Emily, she has re-ignited the love I once had for playing the harp, insisting I become the best I can be. Her talent inspires and motivates me to play to my full potential. She gives me endless support, encouragement and guidance not just through playing the harp, but for music in general. To me, she is more than a harp teacher, she is someone who you can always count on to make you laugh. Not many music students can or would say this, but I always enjoy and cherish my music lessons with Emily, whatever the day, whatever the weather, I’ve never left without a smile on my face or without something new that I’ve learnt. She has taught me more in a few hours than I have learnt in previous years. Emily has a flair for both playing and teaching; no matter your ability nor age, she can always offer you a service that cannot be replicated nor matched by anyone else. Her talents are impeccable and her gift for teaching cannot be duplicated.”
Lydia, Harp Student Aged 16
